We have so many bright and hardworking students at The Bridge School. Every day, our students go above and beyond to achieve the goals they want in life—no matter what obstacles they have to overcome!
Many of our students here at The Bridge School are high-level athletes who switched to our school to have consistency in their education as they pursue extracurriculars.
Recently, we found out some exciting news about one of our students—she just signed the National Letter of Intent! Her name is Courtney Henry and we’re so proud of her!
Her mother shared Courtney’s inspirational story with us. Check it out below!
Student Spotlight
Courtney knew what she wanted from a VERY early age; her goal was to compete as a collegiate athlete—even when she had absolutely no idea of the commitment that would be required of her.
She started gymnastics at 3 years old, began competing at 5 years old, went into virtual learning in the 4th grade, and began training 33 hours per week at 8 years old.
While all the other kids were playing, going to parties and hanging out with friends, Court was training. The training required of a gymnast is unlike most other sports in that there is no “off-season.” You train year-round, which requires a dedication that most adults do not have, much less a child.
Court has had to overcome a host of injuries over the past 15 years; surgeries and rehabilitation was a normal part of her life. She was so incredibly resilient, she stayed focused on her goals, and the discipline and dedication that it took to overcome these injuries and get back to her sport.
Over the years, she has amassed quite a few Championship titles, including 8 State Titles and 3 Regional Titles.
She has qualified for State and Regionals every year that she has competed since 2014. She has also competed internationally and has won 5 Championship titles in Europe.
When not training or competing, she can be found working on school. The flexibility of The Bridge School gave her the ability to dedicate time to her studies and currently has a 3.91 GPA.
On November 9, 2022, Courtney realized her lifelong dream when she signed her National Letter of Intent; and she earned a FULL RIDE athletic scholarship to Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO). Courtney will compete for SEMO as an all-around gymnast. Go Redhawks!
Congratulations, Courtney! Thanks for sharing your story with us!
